This problem is most likely to occur if the format for the variable is larger than needed. If a numeric column is used for the MARKERCHARACTER and a format it not associated with the column, the BEST6. format is used.
To circumvent the problem, apply a smaller format to the column using a FORMAT statement.
Beginning with SAS® 9.4, you can specify the LABELSTRIP=TRUE option in the SCATTERPLOT or SCATTERPLOTMATRIX statement to strip the leading and trailing blanks from the column values.
